CONQUEST Norman [James]

Corporal 20084, "A" Comoany, 4th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Died on service 30 April 1918 from Bronchial Pneumonia after being subjected to a mustard gas attack.. Aged 19. Born Felbridge, Surrey, resident Renhold, Bedfordshire, enlisted Bedford, Son of James and Emily Conquest, of Keeper Lodge, Renfold, Bedford. In the 1901 census he was aged 2, born Horne, Surrey, son of James [a Game Keeper] and Emily Conquest, resident Rocplat Lane, Horne, Godstone, Surrey. Educated at Renhold Cont. Voluntary Primary/lower School, Renhold, Bedfordshire. In the 1911 census he was aged 12, born Horne, Surrey, a scholar, son of James [a Gameskeeper] and Emly Conquest, resident Woodcock Hill, Godstone, Surrey. Admitted to 149th Field Ambulance 29 August 1917 with influenza, discharged 2 September 1917 back to his unit. Admitted 20 March 1918 to 149th Field Ambulance when his unit was gassed by shells, transferred to 150 (R.N.) Field Ambulance 20 March 1918, died 30 April 1918. Served in France, Flanders. Buried in ST. SEVER CEMETERY EXTENSION, ROUEN, Seine-Maritime, France. Section P. Plot XI. Row M. Grave 6A. See also Renhold
