        The Bedfordshire Branch of
the Police Federation held its first meeting on 22nd March 1922. One
of the earliest requests was that a Roll of Honour be fixed in a conspicuous
place at Shire Hall "to the memory of our fallen comrades in the
Great War." Lieutent-Colonel, Sir Frank Stevens supported the request
and the standing joint committee duly commissioned a memorial stone.
The memorial now resides in the Police Headquarters at Kempston, opposite
the reception desk. It has been added to with one entry for World War
2 and beside it rests a memorial to one man who fell in Korea.
