war memorial sits in the entrance porch to the Elstow Bunyan Meeting
Hall (Presnyterian Church) and takes the form of a white, marble, tablet
mounted in an oak frame. There are ten names listed for World War 1.
The memorial was unveiled and edeicated 11 November 1921.

Bedford. In the 1911 census he was aged 16, an apprentice bricklayer,
son of George and Elizabeth M Blain, born Bedford, resident The
Lane, Elstow, Bedford. Birth registered in the July to September
Quarter 1894 in the Bedford Registration District. Embarked for
France 22 April 1917. His effects went to Mr G W Blain, of West
End, Elstow. Formerly 2361, Royal Engineers (Territorial). Qualified
bricklayer aat attestation. Buried in MENIN ROAD SOUTH MILITARY
CEMETERY, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Plot II. Row I. Grave

census he was aged 4, son of Christopher Ernest and Emily Bowler,
born Elstow, resident 15 Lord Street, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
Buried in CONTAY BRITISH CEMETERY, CONTAY, Somme, France. Plot VIII.

ROBINSON, Pioneer 254886, "A" Corps Signal Company,
Royal Engineers. Killed in action 3 August 1917. Born and resident
