Buried in BAGHDAD (NORTH GATE) WAR CEMETERY, Iraq. Plot IX. Row

Three
months after volunteering in November 1915 he was drafted
to France. where he saw much severe fighting and took part
in the Battles of the Somnie, Arias, Messines, Ypres and
Cambrai and other engagements in various sectors of the
front. He fell in action near Ribecourt on August 8th, 1918.
He was entitled to the General Service and Victory Medals.

on Thursday, 21st March 1918. Age 28. Son of Joseph and Emily Hart,
of 37, Gardeners Cottage, Oakley. Commemorated on POZIERES MEMORIAL,
Somme, France. Panel 23 and 24. In Oakley cemetery there is
a grave that states that he was in the 2nd Battalion, Lincolnshire
Regiment and his parents were Parents Joseph and Susannah. |

Formerly 83236, Sherwood Foresters. Commemorated on TYNE COT MEMORIAL,
Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Panel 106 to 108. Also commemorated
on his parents grave in Oakley Cemetery.

He
joined in April 1917, and was quickly drafted to France.
During his short period of service on the Western Front,
he was in action at the Battles of Messines and Lens, but
shortly afterwards was reported missing, and is now presumed
to have been killed in action on October 12th, 1917. He
was entitled to the General Service and Victory Medals.

was retained on important duties with his unit at various
stations. Owing to the early cessation of hostilities he
was not successful in obtaining his transfer to a theatre
of war, but, nevertheless, rendered valuable services until
demobiised in October 1919. |

Regular soldier, who was serving at the outbreak of war,
he was sent to France in October 1914, but after fighting
at La Bassée was severely wounded ou Octobr 26th,
during the first Battle of Ypres. He unhappily succumbed
to his injuries the following day. He was entitled to the
1914 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.

mouths after volunteering he was sent to France in April
1915, and served on the Arras front. Transferred soon afterwards
to the Ypres salient, he was unhappily killed in action
during a gas-attack on May 6th, only a few weeks after his
arrival tn France. He was entitled to the 1914-15 Star,
and the General Service and Victory Medals.

14th, 1915. He was entitled to the 1914 Star, and the General
Service and Victory Medals.
