of 547 lives. Born 31 March 1896 in Streatley. Second son of Charles
Samuel and Sarah Ashby, of Wood Cottage, Potsgrove, Woburn, Bedfordshire.
Enlisted 28 May 1914 for 5 years and 7 years Reserve. Sand Carter
before enlistment. Height 5 feet 8¾ inches, chest 36 inches,
brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion. In the 1901 census he was
aged 5, born Streatley, Bedfordshire, son of Charles S and Sarah
Ashby, resident Chaul End, Caddington, Luton, Bedfordshire. No known
