Private 9112, 2nd Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. Killed in action Sunday 30th July 1916 in France & Flanders. Age 26. Born Olney, enlisted Wolverton, resident Sherington. Son of T. and Clara Bailey of Oak Villa, Sherington. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 10 A and 10 D.

BAILEYPercy John

[Memorial states 1917] Private 103422, 10th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment). Died from wounds at the 18th Casualty Clearing Station in France Tuesday 15th October 1918. Age 19 years. Born 6th July 1899 in Olney, enlisted Bedford, resident Newport Pagnell. The youngest son of Thomas and Clara Bailey, of Oak Villa, Water Lane, Sherington. He joined as 10955 in the Band of the Bedfordshire Regiment when he was 16 years old and was transferred to the Sherwood Foresters and went to France 1917. In August 1918 he was admitted to a French Hospital with severe wounds caused by a gas shell, and had only recently rejoined his Regiment. Buried in The Cemetery, Rocquigny- Equancourt Road British Cemetery, MANACOURT, SOMME, FRANCE. Grave Reference XIV.D.2

Private 16474, 1st Battalion, Hampshire Regiment. Killed in action Saturday 1st July 1916 in France & Flanders. Age 27. Born and resident Sherington, enlisted Oxford. Son of Mr. A. Brooks, of 17, High St., Filgrave, Bucks.; husband of Susan Ellen Bennett (formerly Brooks), of 1, Hill's Yard, Sherington. Formerly 17714, Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. Buried in BEAUMONT-HAMEL BRITISH CEMETERY, Somme, France. Grave A. 82.

Lance Corporal 10505, 8th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment, Died of wounds Tuseday 10th July 1917 in France & Flanders. Born Chicheley, Buckinghamshire, enlisted Bedford, resident Sydenham, Kent. Buried in BETHUNE TOWN CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France. Grave VI. F. 40.

JEFFERSONAlfred

Rifleman 390353, 9th Battalion, London Regiment (Queen Victoria's Rifles). Killed in action Monday 15th July 1918 in France & Flanders. Age 33. Enlisted London, resident Willesden. Son of Joseph and Mary E. Jefferson, of Sherington. Buried in BAVELINCOURT COMMUNAL CEMETERY, Somme, France. Grave C. 13.

JEFFERSONCharles Beaumont

Private 33645, 2nd Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Killed in action Sunday 8th April 1917 in France & Flanders.Age 30. Born and resident Sherington, enlisted Bedford. Son of Joseph Jefferson, of Sherington. Formerly 1776, Bedfordshire Yeomanry. Buried in BUCQUOY ROAD CEMETERY, FICHEUX, Pas de Calais, France. Grave VI. F. 11.

Sergeant 14781, 6th Battalion, Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. Died of wounds Monday 9th October 1916 in France & Flanders. Age 25. Born and resident Sherington, enlisted Newport Pagnell. Eldest son of Frederick and Emily Line, of "The Royal Oak," Sherington. Buried in GROVE TOWN CEMETERY, MEAULTE, Somme, France. Grave I. O. 6.

MOOREEdward Stanley

Sapper 522004, 483rd Field Company, Royal Engineers. Killed in action Tuesday 13th March 1917 in France & Flanders. Age 25. Born Wood Green, Middlesex, enlisted Bedford, resident Newport Pagnell. Son of John and Ada Moore, of Mill House, Sherington; husband of Gertrude Maud Moore, of 109, High St., Newport Pagnell. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 8 A and 8 D.

Private 200325, 1st/5th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Died of wounds Thursday 19th September 1918 in Palestine. Born Newport Pagnell, enlisted Bedford, resident Sherington. Buried in RAMLEH WAR CEMETERY, Israel. Grave CC. 43.

NORMAN Henry [Harry] Stimson

Private 11706, 1st Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment. Killed in action 18th July 1916 in France & Flanders. Born Sherington, enlisted London. Buried in CONTALMAISON CHATEAU CEMETERY, Somme, France. Grave 11. D. 9.

WRIGHTWilliam Charles

Lance Corporal 17507, 5th Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. Killed in action Wednesday 22nd August 1917 in France & Flanders. Age 20. Born Catchley, Bucks (sic - probably Bletchley), enlisted Oxford, resident Sherington. Son of Walter and Amy Wright, of Church End, Sherington. Commemorated on TYNE COT MEMORIAL, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Panel 96 to 98.
