Private 9112, 2nd Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. Killed in action Sunday 30th July 1916 in France & Flanders. Age 26. Born Olney, enlisted Wolverton, resident Sherington. Son of T. and Clara Bailey of Oak Villa, Sherington. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 10 A and 10 D.

[Memorial states 1917] Private 103422, 10th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment). Died from wounds at the 18th Casualty Clearing Station in France Tuesday 15th October 1918. Age 19 years. Born 6th July 1899 in Olney, enlisted Bedford, resident Newport Pagnell. The youngest son of Thomas and Clara Bailey, of Oak Villa, Water Lane, Sherington. He joined as 10955 in the Band of the Bedfordshire Regiment when he was 16 years old and was transferred to the Sherwood Foresters and went to France 1917. In August 1918 he was admitted to a French Hospital with severe wounds caused by a gas shell, and had only recently rejoined his Regiment. Buried in The Cemetery, Rocquigny- Equancourt Road British Cemetery, MANACOURT, SOMME, FRANCE. Grave Reference XIV.D.2
