VAIL Edward George
Able Seaman J/16455, H.M.S. "Queen Mary", Royal Navy who was killed or died as a direct result of enemy action on Wednesday, 31st May 1916. Born 26 July 1896 at Leyton, Essex. Son of William Vail, of 19, Marshall Rd, Hills Road, Cambridge. In 1911 he was aged 14, Grocery man, born Leyton, Essex and resident 117 Belmont Park Road, West Ham; his father was born at Stretham, Cambs. No known grave. Commemorated on PORTSMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL, Hampshire. Column 13. See also Cambridge St John's
