This memorial is a cross in the centre of the village at the junction of London Road and Shepreth Road and takes the form of a cross mounted on a plinth with a two-stepped base. There are 11 names for World War 1 and 2 for World War 2; in 2000 the name of George Payne was added to the memorial. The memorial was dedicated on 10th December 1919 and rededicated 20th September 2000. To erect it cost £120 from public subscription; the masons were Messrs. G. Maile & Son Ltd. Details appeared in the Cambridge Independent Press 12 December 1919.

There is also a tablet inside St Mary's Church containing the First World War names (except for the 2000). It takes the form of a plain, rectangular, bronze plaque with the inscription in relief. It reads "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND TO THE MEMORY OF THE MEN WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918".

BAKER	John aka Jonney	Private 6400 1st Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment who was killed in action on Monday, 9th November 1914. Aged 36. Born and resident Fowlmere, enlisted Royston. Son of Fredrick and Emma Baker, of Rectory Lane, Fowlmere; husband of Florence Baker, of 25, Belgrave Rd., Mill Rd., Cambridge. No known grave. Commemorated on LE TOURET MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Panel 10 and 11
CHAMBERLAIN	Alfred	Private 13608, 2nd Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 27th September 1917. Aged 29. Born Shepreth, enlisted Cambridge. Son of John and Elizabeth Chamberlain, of Meldreth, Herts; husband of Elsie Annie Chamberlain, of High St., Fowlmere, Royston, Herts. No known grave. Commemorated on TYNE COT MEMORIAL, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Panel 40 to 41 and 162 to 162A.
INGREY	George Edwin	Private, 13587, 11th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 1st July 1915. Aged 21. Son of Edwin and Emily Ingrey, of Mill Lane, Bassingbourn, Royston, Herts. Born Royston, enlisted Cambridge. His family came from Fowlmere and George worked fo Mr Woodcock of Fowlmere before he enlisted on the 5th September 1914. He was trained at Cambridge and in Yorkshire before he left for the front in January 1916. It was soon after that the family moved from Fowlmere to Mill Lane in Bassingbourn, where they were told of his death. He was one of the 189 who died from his Regiment on the 1st day of the battle of the Somme, George died in the Loch Naggar Crater. No known grave. KNIGHTS	Charles [Henry]	Private 26127, 92nd Company, Machine Gun Corps (Infantry). Killed in action Tuesday, 1st May 1917 in France & Flanders. Born Ickleton, enlisted Cambridge, resident Fowlmere. Formerly 15776, Suffolk Regiment. Buried in ORCHARD DUMP CEMETERY, ARLEUX-EN-GOHELLE, Pas de Calais, France. Plot VIII. Row B. Grave 2.
NASH	Wilfred Maulkin	Private 761069, 7th Battalion, Canadian Infantry (British Columbia Regiment). Died 15 August 1917. Aged 33. Born Fowlmere 19th March 1884. Son of Thomas Maulkin and Etheldred L. Nash, of Fowlmere, Royston, Herts. Unmarried. Enlisted and passed fit 22nd February 1916 at New Westminster, British Columbia. Height 5 feet 10 inches, girth 37½ inches, complexion fair, eyes brown, hair dark brown; Church of England. No known grave. Commemorated on VIMY MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. SHELDRICK	Arthur	Private 42088, 7th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 21st March 1918. Aged 23. Born and resident Fowlmere, enlisted London. Son of Richard and Jane Sheldrick. Formerly 18333, Royal Flying Corps. No known grave. Commemorated on ARRAS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Bay 3 and 4.
SMITH	Harry [Frank]	Private 20333, 2nd Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action Saturday, 22nd January 1916 in France and Flanders. Aged 35. Born Fowlmere, enlisted Cambridge. Husband of Emily A. Clow (formerly Smith), of 8, Pilot St., King's Lynn. No known grave. Commemorated on YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Panel 21
SMITH	Mark	Private 8907, 3rd Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment. Killed in action Friday, 28th April 1916 in France and Flanders. Born and resident Fowlmere, enlisted Bury St Edmunds. No known grave. Commemorated on ARRAS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Bay 6.
WARD	Frank	Private 47719, 2nd Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action Friday, 30th August 1918. Born Fowlmere, enlisted Meldreth. Buried in ECOUST-ST. MEIN BRITISH CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France. Plot/Row/Section A. Grave 10.
WARD	Septimus	Private 242960, 1/4th Battalion, Prince of Wales' Volunteers (South Lancashire Regiment). Killed in action Thursday, 11th April 1918 in France and Flanders. Resident Royston, Herts, enlisted Willsden, Middlesex. No known grave. Commemorated on LOOS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Panel 76
WILKINSON	Albert	Private 306873, 2nd/8th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment). Died of wounds Saturday, 28th April 1917 in France & Flanders. Aged 33. Son of Joseph & Agnes Wilkinson. Born Fowlmere, enlisted Hitchin, Herts. Buried in LA CHAPELETTE BRITISH AND INDIAN CEMETERY, PERONNE, Somme, France. Plot II. Row A. Grave 5.

HITCH	Edwin John	Private 5933699, 1st Battalion, Cambridgeshire Regiment, Died of dysentery as a Japanese Prisoner of War 5th December 1943. Aged 27. Buried in CHUNGKAI WAR CEMETERY, Thailand. Plot 3. Row O. Grave 5.

SWANN	Colin John	Flying Officer 154783, 280 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Died 8th October 1944. Aged 20. Son of Frank C. and Emily Swann, of Fowlmere, Cambridgeshire. No known grave. Commemorated on RUNNYMEDE MEMORIAL, Surrey, United Kingdom. Panel 209.
