Born Thriplow circa 1895. Gardener by trade. After the war he retrained as a Cobbler. Died in 1969. Lost his leg and was shot through the right hand in service.

Private 6311, Suffolk Regiment. Son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Andrews, of Little Abington. Prisoner of War in Germany. In the 1901 census he was aged 14, born Duxford, Cambridgeshire, an Agricultural Labourer on Farm, son of William and Alice Andrews, resident in Village, Little Abington, Linton, Cambridgeshire. Married Ada Miller, of Duxford, in Little Abington, banns read 6 July 1919, marriage in July to September Quarter 1919 in Linton Registration District, Cambridgeshire..

Private 20448, 2nd (Home Service) Garrison Battalion, Suffolk Regiment attached 44 Training Reserve Battalion. Husband of Lily Cashman (nee Hill), married in Linton 4 February 1911; one adopted daughter (born 8 May 1901) and one son. Attested 3 June 1915 in London, aged 34 years, Clerk by trade, resident Little Abington. Discharged 16 July 1917 as being no longer physically fit for war service, King's Regulations Para. 392 (xvi) - disordered action of the heart. With British Expeditionary Force in France from 16 December 1915 to 2nd February 1916.

Embodied 1st Great Eastern Hospital, Royal Army Medical Corps 25 November 1915. Discharged 24 March 1916 at Cambridge as being unlikely to become an efficent soldier (on medical grounds) King's Regulations para 392 III (cc), aged 25 years 6 months, height 5 feet 8 inches, chest 36 inches, weight 142lbs, sallow complexion, brown eyes, dark brown hair, Sign Writer/Decorator by trade, resident Milestone House, Little Abington. Admitted to 1st Great Eastern Hospita 15 to 24 December 1915 with Gasbritis, admiited 1st Great Eastern Hospital 7 March 1916 to 14 March 1916 with Hernia. Previously served 4 years with 4th (Volunteer) Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Served as an Night Orderly in V.A.D. Hospital, Linton, Cambs, for British Red Cross 1 July 1917 to 18 November 1917.

Originally attested 17 July 1916, aged 17 years 11 months, occupation Farm Labourer, unmarried, passed to Army Reserve 18 July 1916, mobilised 17 September 1917, posted 52nd Gard. Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment 2 February 1918. Re-attested 26 February 1919 at Co. Tipperary, Ireland, aged 19 years 6 months, a Farm Labourer, at the time serving as Private, 52145, Lincolnshire Regiment. In 1881 he was resident Limes, Shortlands, Kent, member of the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers, City Of London, master Richard Whittington. In the 1881 census he was aged 17, born Middlesex, a Student at King's College, resident with his parents, Thomas and Emma M Whittington, resident The Limes, Beckenham, Bromley, Kent. In the 1911 census he was aged 47, Clerk in Holy Order, born City of Lodnon, married to Margaret A Whittington, resident The Vicarage, Little Abington, Cambridgeshire. In the 1939 Register he was married, a Clerk In Holy Orders, resident The Vicarage, South Cambridgeshire R.D., Cambridgeshire. Died 1944. Aged 80. Resident of Burford House, Hildersham, Cambridge. Buried 24 April 1944 in LITTLE ABINGTON (ST.MARY) CHURCHYARD, Cambridgeshire.
