DOBWALLS
WAR MEMORIAL
World
War 1 & 2 - detailed information
Compiled and copyright © Paula & Dave Kennington 2006
This
memorial is located just off the main A38, in front of the memorial
Hall which was opened in their honour. The memorial takes the form of
a stone cross; it has a concrete base surmounted by double plinth, tapering
shaft and latin cross with the Inscription on the base of the shaft
and on the plinth in black lettering. The memorial was cleaned around
1999 and the cement renewed where the memorial joins the plinth. The
memorial hall has a dedicated plaque inside mounted on a wooden backboard.
Both memorials contain the same 10 names for World War 1 and 8 names
for World War 2. The names are listed by Surname, initials and rank.
For World War 2 the names have been split into two sections, those killed
in action and those who died on service.
