The
memorial is located in Royal Gardens, Dartmouth, South Hams, Devon.
It takes the form of a rough hewn graite cross that is mounted on a
square plinth that bears the names and the inscription; the wole stands
on a two-stepped base. Listed are 160 men who died in World War 11,
82 who died in World War 2, 35 civilians who died in World War 2, one
name from the Yangtse Incident (1949), one from the Malayan Emergency
(1948-1960), and one name from Afghanistan (2001-2014). The memorial
was originally unveiled by the Prince of Wales in 1921.

1915 aged 16, and is buried at St Winifred’s Churchyard, Branscombe,

the National Archives. It is probable that this is the same person,
and he was discharged from the army prior to his death. Brother
