The
8th Division World War 1 Memorial is located at facing the 4th Division
Headquarters, Queens Avenue, Aldershot. The memorial was unveiled by
General Sir Francis Davies and takes the form of a cenotaph upon which
is mounted a bronze lion. The photograph depicts General Sir Francis
J. Davies, K.C.B., K.C.M.G., K.C.V.O., R.D.E. reading his address after
the unveiling in 1924, by his side is the Rt. Rev. Bishop J. Taylor-Smith,
C.B., C.V.O., D.D., Chaplain-General to the Forces.
