The
memorial is located in St Peter’s Square, Hereford. It takes the
form of a three-stepped base surmounted by octagon plinth and Eleanor
cross enclosed by white painted, metal, railings. There are Regimental
crests on the sides of the pedestal and the figures of a soldier, nurse,
sailor and an airman holding an aircraft propeller depicted on the cross.
The memorial was designed by L.W. Barnard, F.R.I.B.A. and made by the
Bromsgrove Guild; it was originally unveiled 7th October 1922; it has
been added to for various conflicts and was finally rededicated by the
Lord Bishop of Hereford on 9 April 1989. It is a Grade 2 Listed building.
A plaque describing the history and construction of the emorial is attached
to the railings.
