Herts, by his wife, Julia, dau. of Mr. Martin of Offley; born Offley aforesaid, 25th Dec. 1891; educated there; was a gardener; enlisted in The Hampshire Regiment, 2nd Sept. 1914; served with The Salonika Army at Salonika from 22nd Sept. 1915; was invalided to England in June 1918; proceeded to France in the following month, and died at No 46 Casualty Clearing Station, 30th Aug. 1918, from wounds received in action on the 28th of that month. Buried at Bac Du Sad, south west of Arras. He married at St. Peters Church, Lilley, in 1912, Hilda (Chestnut Row, Lilley, Luton), dau. of Jem. Webb, and had a dau., Ella Maud, born 24th March, 1913.
