16414, 2nd Battalion, Grenadier Guards. Died of wounds whilst prisoner
of war 30 December 1917, aged 25. Born Glatton (1892), enlisted
Old Fletton, resident Glatton, Hunts. On the 1911 Census Harry was
a horseman, aged 18, living with his parents in Glatton. Son of
William and Selina Butt; brother of Florence, Ethel, Elsie, Leslie
and Penelope. Buried in Berlin South-Western Cemetery, Germany.

43112, 6th Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment. Killed in action
Boom Ravine 17 February 1917, aged 20. Formerly 26588, 7th Battalion,
Bedfordshire Regiment. Born Washingley (1896), enlisted Peterborough,
resident Washingley. On the 1911 Census Ernest was a Labourer, aged
15, living with his parents in Four Lodges, Washingley, Hunts. Son
of John and Caroline Hadman; brother of Millie and Elijah. Four
Lodges, Washingley, Huntingdonshire. No known grave. Commemorated
on Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. Panels 11A and 11D. |

G/20239, 23rd Battalion, Middlesex Regiment. Killed in action during
an attack on Dammstrasse near Messines on 7 June 1917, aged 20.
Born Great Gidding (1896), enlisted Huntingdon, resident Glatton.
On the 1911 Census Arnold was a Farm Labourer, aged 14, living with
his parents in Glatton. Son of Arthur William and Eliza Inglesby,
Glatton, Hunts; brother of James, Gertrude, Edith, Lily, Violet
and Ellen. No known grave. Commemorated on Menin Gate Memorial,
Ypres, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Panels 49 to 51. |

26111, 3rd Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Died at home 15 March
1916, aged 19. Born Glatton (1896), enlisted Huntingdon, resident
Glatton, Hunts. On the 1911 Census he was a schoolboy, aged 14,
living with his grandmother Elizabeth Savage in High Street, Somersham.
Son of Firman and Catherine Susan Savage, Glatton. Buried in Glatton
(St. Nicholas) Churchyard, Huntingdonshire.

GIFT
TO THE CHURCH—A beautiful double pica folio Prayer
Book has been presented to the Church by Mrs. F. Savage, in memory
of her son, George Edward Savage, who died March 15th, 1916. It
is bound in Turkey Morocco, with gilt edges. On the cover outside,
in gilt letters, is “St. Nicholas Church, Glatton,”
on the inside of the same cover, done in gilt letters, is the
inscription:—“To the Glory of God. In loving Memory,
George Edward Savage, 3rd Beds. Regt., who died of pneumonia March
15th, 1916, in his twentieth year, while serving his country in
the War.”
