This
memorial is a marble column opposite the Swan Inn at the junction of
Station Lane and High Street. Note: At the unveiling, reported
April 2, 1920, Messrs A.T. & G Wagstaff were referred to as natives
of the Parish, of The South African Contingence. The family and these
brothers had emigrated to South Africa traveling from London on the
'Athenic', 12 January 1905

“With loving remembrance of our dear boys Will and Charlie,
from the family”. Baptised at about aged 4, 5th May 1882 –
