Sergeant L/8158, 6th Battalion, The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). Died 14th August 1917. Born Snave, Kent. Enlisted Lydd. Resided Old Romney. Buried Duisans British Cemetery, Par de Calais, France. Grave VI.B.50.

GROCOTT

Albert [Bernard]

Sergeant 8264, “C” Company 1st Battalion, North Staffordshire Regiment. Died 28th April 1916 aged 28 years. Born Hanley, Staffordshire, Enlisted Lichfield, Staffordshire Resided Hanley, Staffordshire. Buried Dranoutre Military Cemetery, Heuvelland, West Vlaanderen, Belgium. Grave I.C.21.

Albert’s wife Ellen Louisa Grocott resided at “The Nook”, High Street, New Romney. Son of Arthur and Ellen Louisa Grocott, of Birches Head, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.

MASEY

Harold

Private L/9420 Harold MASEY. 2nd Battalion, The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) Died 3rd May 1915. Age 27. Born New Romney, Enlisted Canterbury, Resided Old Romney. Son of Charles and Eliza Masey of “Ivy Cottage”, Old Romney, Romney Marsh, Kent. Commemorated on the Ypres ( Menin Gate) Memorial, Ieper, Belgium.

STEPHEN

William [John]

Sergeant (Air Gunner) 1892588, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, 101 Squadron, Royal Air Force. Died 20th January 1944, aged 19. Resident Old Romney. Son of William Geddes Stephen and Maggie Stephen of Old Romney. Buried in Old Romney (St Clement) Churchyard.
