is a Memorial Cross in the corner of the Churchyard of St Andrew’s
Church, Irby-upon-Humber which was unveiled on 21st September 1919.

Richard
Dyas served as a Private, 47915, Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby
Regiment), 9th Battalion in France and Flanders. He was killed in
action on 10th November, 1917, age 29 and is buried at the Loos
British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France, Grave XX C 24. He was the
son of William and Mary Ann Dyas, of Irby-on-Humber, Grimsby. Richard
enlisted at Grimsby, living at that time at Irby. There is a book
rest in Irby Church in his memory. |
PLASKETT |
Robert |
Robert
James Plaskitt served as a Private, G/17290, in the Royal Sussex
Regiment, 11th Battalion, as part of the British Expeditionary Force.
He was killed in action on 25th September 1917 and is buried at
the Hooge Crater Cemetery, Leper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, Grave
V111.K.8. Robert enlisted at Grimsby. |

Ernest Lusby served as a Private, 9702, in the Lincolnshire Regiment,
1st Battalion in France and Flanders. He was killed in action on
21st September 1915, age 22, and is buried at the Brandhoek Military
Cemetery, Leper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Grave I E 11. He was
the son of David and Lucy Lusby, of Irby, Grimsby. George was born
at Riby and enlisted at Grimsby. |

Robert |
Robert’s
actual name appears to have been Walter Lusby and he served as a
Private in the South Staffordshire Regiment, 2nd/5th Battalion,
in France and Flanders. He died of wounds on 28th September 1917,
age 23, and is buried at the Mendinghem Military Cemetery, Poperinge,
West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Grave V11.A.34. He was the son of David
and Lucy Lusby of Irby, Grimsby and was born at Riby. Robert enlisted
at Scunthorpe, living at that time at Kirton-in-Lindsey. |
