War 1 & 2 - Roll of Honour with detailed information

The
memorials are to be found in the church of Holy Ascension, Melton Ross.
The World War 1 memorial is in black script, handwritten, in a wooden
frame affixed to the wall, the World War 2 is an inscribed brass plaque
mounted on a wooden backboard affixed to the wall. There are fifteen
names for World War 1 most who served but one marked as fallen and four
for World War 2 all who died. In addition there is a plaque to one man
who died during the South African (Boer War) 1899-1900.

To
the glory of God and in honoured memory of Godfrey West Webb. Son
of Jonas and Mary Marshall Webb of this parish. Lance Corporal,
10th Company, 3rd Battalion, Sherwood Rangers, Imperial Yeomanry
who having responded to the call of his country died on active service
at Kroonstad, South Africa on 30th July 1900, aged 24 years. This
memorial is erected by his comrades in the Regiment, and by his
friends and neighbours in the Brocklesby Hunt district.
