The Toynton All Saints war memorial is in the form of a wall mounted brass plaque mounted on a wooden frame within the church of All Saints. There are six names for World War 1 and three for World War 2.

HUDDLESTON

A

Appears on memorials as A Huddleston at Toynton All Saints, and H Huddlestone at Toynton St Peter. Would seem to be Bert Henry Huddleston. Private 37146. 8th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment, formerly 3745 Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 24th October 1916, aged 26 years. Son of James and May Huddleston, husband of Elsie May Huddleston of Toynton Fen Side, Lincs. Born Terrington St Clement, Norfolk and enlisted Grimsby, Lincs. Commemorated THIEPVAL MEMORIAL. Pier and Face 5A and 5B.

Charles Walter

Private 16214. 6th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Died Gallipoli 23rd October 1915. Born Toynton All Saints, enlisted Spilsby and resident Toynton All Saints, Lincs. Commemorated CAIRO WAR MEMORIAL CEMETERY. D.155.

MALTSON

Private 7920. 1st Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 12th February 1916, aged 19 years. Son of William and Lucy Basker Maltson of Toynton St Peter, Lincs. Born West Keal (CWGC) or Keal Cotes (SDGW) and enlisted Horncastle, Lincs. Commemorated CITE BONJEAN MILITARY CEMETERY, Armentieres. IX.F.87.

POCKLINGTON

Herbert James

Private 203715. 4th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 22nd March 1918. Born Toynton All Saints, enlisted Louth and resident Spilsby, Lincs. Commemorated ARRAS MEMORIAL. Bay 3 and 4.

SMITH

Sergeant 36404. 8th Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment, formerly 22707 Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 3rd May 1917. Born Toynton and enlisted Spilsby, Lincs. Commemorated ARRAS MEMORIAL. Bay 5.

WARD

J

No J Ward identified, and T Ward on memorial at Toynton St Peter. Would seem to be Thomas Ward. Private 22845. 2nd Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Died of wounds 6th November 1916. Born Hollerton (?), enlisted Spilsby and resident Toynton All Saints, Lincs. Commemorated ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY. XII.C.9.

Sergeant 48011. 4th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Died 25th June 1944, aged 26 years. Son of Thomas William and Gertrude Sarah Huddlestone. Husband of Violet Mary Huddlestone of Wrangle, Lincs. Commemorated TILLY-SUR-SEULLES WAR CEMETERY. II.F.4.

SCARBORO

Aircraftman 1st Class 1009196. 22 Squadron, Royal Air Force VR. Died 1st August 1941, aged 26 years. Son of Jennett and Mildred Messenger Scarboro of Toynton St Peter, Lincs. Commemorated TOYNTON (All Saints) CHURCHYARD.
