The
original World War 1 memorial was lost when the original St Michael's
church was destroyed by a landmine in an air raid 9th May 1941; it
took the form of a mosaic tablet in an alabaster frame and was originally
unveiled 12th March 1921. The were about 25 names listed. A new memorial
in the form of a polished stone of remembrance was erected in Bar
Lane, Waddington made from York granite and was unveiled 9th November
2003 at a cost of £4,018 50p; the builders were Leakes Masonry
of Louth. A dedicatory stone was inserted into the foundation of the
new St Michaels' church reflecting the fact that the original had
been destroyed in the air raid. A clock tower also exists as a memorial
to those men who flew with 463 & 467 Squadroons, Royal Australian
Air Force in World War II and did not return; it was unveiled 8th
May 1975; a dedivcatory plaque also exists nearby. two plaques were
removed from the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel and are in the care of
St Michael’s Church awaiting re-mounting.
