The memorial is in the form of an obelisk above a tall pedestal standing on a circular stepped base. There are projecting buttresses on each corner supporting over life size figures representing a sailor, infantryman, airman and gunner. These have heads bowed and arms reversed as a sign of respect for the dead. The raised cross has overlapping bronze wreath on each face. The memorial was first unveiled on 21st October 1921 by Field Marshal The Earl Haig and dedicated by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The architect was Mr Reginald Wynn Owen and the masons were Messrs. R L Boulton & Sons. There are no names of individuals on the memorial.
