World War 1 & 2 - Detailed information
Compiled & Copyright © Dai Bevan 2008

The memorial is situated outside Brentford library in Boston Manor Rd., TW8 8DW. It is a tall structure of stone. It’s cross section is square, with a smaller square cut out of each corner. Near the top is a ledge, and below it on each face a wreath is carved. The whole stands on a low plinth on a three step base. The main inscription is on the front of the memorial, with the memorial to Sgt, Robert Spall V.C. below. All other names are carved on the two sides of the memorial. A number of names are out of sequence, and appear below names beginning with W. These names are indicated with an asterisk below.

Second world war and later names are displayed on a metal plaque situated beside the main memorial. There are several other memorials situated with it, dedicated to employees of The Gas Light and Coke Company
