The memorial is located in the Booking Office, Marylebone Station, Marylebone, City Of Westminster, Greater London previously in the Office of Chief Goods Manager, Marylebone Railway Station. The memorial is in the form of a rectangular brass plaque on a wooden backboard with the company's name on a ribbon, with a wreath at its centre within which are the dates MCM/XIV-XIX. The third and fourth lines of the inscription and the quotation at the bottom are in Gothic characters. There are eight names listed. The memorial was dedicated by Bishop Suffragan of Willesden and unveiled 16 March 1920. The names are listed in order of death date but sorted into alphabetical order here.

Private 7215, 2nd Battalion, Honourable Artillery Company (Infantry) formerly 2719, 21st Battalion, London Regiment. Died of wounds at Piave River 31 October 1918. Aged 25. Resident Wimbledon, enlisted Camberwell. Clerk in Goods Manager's Office. Son of Janetta Louisa and the late John Webster Helliwell, of London. Buried in GIAVERA BRITISH CEMETERY, ARCADE,Italy. Private 129475, 9th Company, Machine Gun Corps (Infantry). Killed in action at Wytshaete 16 April 1918. Aged 19. Born Sheerness, Kent, enlisted Hampstead, Middlesex. Chief Clerk in Goods Manager's Office. Only son of William and Ellen Elizabeth Howes, of 28, Solent Rd., West Hampstead, London. No known grave. Commemorated on TYNE COT MEMORIAL, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Panel 154 to 159.

Sergeant 1605, 1st/9th (County of London) Battalion (Queen Victoria's Rifles), London Regiment, Killed in action at Combles 9 October 1916. Aged 20. Born 5 March 1896 in St Cleopas, Liverpool, resident Chorley Wood, enlisted London. Clerk in Goods Manager's Office. Son of Agnes A. Salter, of 91, Whitefriars Avenue, Wealdstone, Harrow, Middlesex, and the late Harry Salter. Born 5 March 1896 at St. Cleopas', Liverpool, Lancashire, son of Harry and Agnes Anne Salter, resident 7 Pleona Street, Liverpool, Lancashire, baptised 29 April 1896 at Toxteth, St Cleopas Church of England, Liverpool. In the 1901 census he was aged 5, born Lancashire, son of Harry and Agnes A Salter, resident 20, Tunley Road, Willesden, Hendon, Middlesex; his father was a Railway Cerk. Admitted to Chorleywood Christ Church Junior, Middle & Infant School, Chorleywood, Hertfordshire 29 October 1901, son of Harry Salter, resident The Swillett, Chorletwood, listed as too delicate to attend school during winter. In the 1911 census he was aged 15, born Liverpool, Lancashire, at school, son of Harry and Agnes Anne Salter, resident Ivycote Quickly Lane, Chorleywood, Hertfordshire; his father was a Railway Clerk. No known grave. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 9 C.

Thomas Victor

Second Lieutenant, 21st (Tyneside Scottish) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. Led his platoon into action on 5 June 1917, hit by a shell in two places and died one hour after being admitted to the Casualty Clearing Station at Messines Ridge 6 June 1917. Age 30. Clerk in Goods Manager's Office. Joined the Artists Rifles OTC in March 1915, obtained commission in February 1917. Brother of Miss N. G. Scattergood, of "Woodcote," 42, Bourne Street, Dudley, Staffs. Educated Chesterfield Boys' Grammar Boys School, Derbyshire, admitted 2 May 1898, aged 11, son of J.T. Scattergood, of Clarence Road, West Park, Chesterfield, left Easter 1901. In the 1911 census he was unmarried, aged 24, born Chesterfield, Derbyshire, a Railway Clerk, resident 23, Clarendon Gardens, Paddington, London & Middlesex. Married Daisie Amy Courtenay-Russell 4 December 1915 at Stretford, St Matthew, Manchester, son of Joseph Thomas Scattergood. Buried in DUISANS BRITISH CEMETERY, ETRUN, Pas de Calais, France.Plot IV. Row F. Grave 35.

Rifleman 5808, 'D' Company, 1st/9th (County of London) Battalion (Queen Victoria's Rifles), London Regiment. Died at Guinchy 9 September 1916. Aged 31. Born Knutsford, Cheshire, resident Wealdstone, Middlesex, enlisted London. Clerk in Goods Manager's Office. Son of William E. Slade, of 89, Longley Road, Harrow, Middlesex. No known grave. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 9 C.
