The
war memorial for Barnham Broom is to be found within the church of St
Peter & St Paul as wells as a Roll of Honour. The Roll of Honour
takes the form of a rectangular wooden board with a nowy headed pediment
with a carved inscription with a wreath above it to be found just inside
the porch. There are 44 names listed of the men who served in World
War 1 from the village (excluding the eight who gave their lives, 52
names for World War 1 in total). The memorial on the North side of the
church takes the form of metal plaque containing the names of the eight
men who gave their lives from the village. There are photographs on-line
of the Roll
of Honour and War
Memorial. The war memorial was unveiled 15th April 1920. No memorial
for World War 2 has been found.
The
memorial inscription reads:

Barnham Broom. Buried in CHESTER FARM CEMETERY, West-Vlaanderen,

census he was the son of James and Sarah Ann Bullard, aged 19, Farm
Labourer, born and resident Barnham Broom. Formerly 5394, Norfolk
Regiment. Buried in BERLAIMONT COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, Nord,

action 16 April 1917. Aged 22. Born Little Melton, enlisted Norwich,
resident Barnham Broom. Husband of Ada Lucy Cullum, of Barnham Broom,
Wymondham, Norfolk. In the 1911 census William Cullum was the son
of Henry and Eva Cullum, aged 16, single, a Shepherd'sm Page, born
Little Melton, resident The Oaks, Bylaugh, East Dereham. Buried
in MINDEL TRENCH BRITISH CEMETERY, ST. LAURENT-BLANGY, Pas de Calais,
France. Plot/Row/Section A. Grave 33.

4th Battalion, Australian Light Trench Mortar Battery. Died of wounds
6 April 1918. Aged 23. Born Barnham Broom. Son of J Davey. Educated
at Barnham Broom School. Resident Tabinga Queensland, Australia
where he was farming. Buried in GOMMECOURT BRITISH CEMETERY NO.2,
HEBUTERNE, Pas de Calais, France. Plot II. Row L.Grave 3.
In
the 1911 census Charles Davey is the grandson of Anna Self, a Shepherd,
born Barnham Broom, aged 16, resident Barford, Wymondham, Norfolk.
The birth of a Charles Albert Davey was Registered in June quarter
1896 at Forehoe Reg Office (office for Barnham Broom). A memorial
to the Davey family in Barnham Broom churchyard includes: 'Also
of Corpl. CHARLES ALBERT 3rd dearly loved son of the above John
& Clara Davey who died of wounds in France April 6th 1918 aged

1811 census he and his brother, Ernest, were Farmer's; he was aged
24, born and resident Barnham Broom. No known grave. Commemorated

Killed in action Easter Monday 9 April 1917. Aged 29. In the 1911
census george Martin was a Boarder, aged 24, Carpenter and Builder,
born and resident Barnham Broom. Born in Barnham Broom in 1885 to
Horace and Harriett Knights. Husband of Jessie May Martin, of 348,
Spring Rd., Ipswich. George married Jessie May Eastoll (born Flordon,
Norfolk) 14th June 1913 they had a son William in 1913 and a daughter
Margery born 1915; Jessie moved to Ipswich after his death and remarried
there. SDGW states he was born in Wymondham, Norfolk, enlisted Newcastle-on-Tyne.
Formerly 170739. Buried in ROCLINCOURT VALLEY CEMETERY, Pas de Calais,

born and resident Barnham Broom. Buried west of the church in SS.
