There
are two memorials here back to back. They are situated to left of
churchyard of St Mary Burnham Deepdale, on A149. The dates of death
are also recorded on the memorial together with the names. There is
also a separate Roll of Honour to
all men who served (See second picture below) split in columns
listed those from the Navy and those from the Army.

The warship HMS
"Vanguard" exploded at Scapa Flow on 9th July 1917
killing 804. Just before midnight on Monday, 9 July 1917, the St
Vincent class battleship HMS Vanguard suddenly blew up due to a
magazine explosion in one of the two magazines which served the
amidships turrets 'P' and 'Q'. |
