Thorpe Market is a village south east of Cromer. There are three memorials in the church. One Memorial is of marble and gives Regiment and Date of Death.

Probably: Robert James Allen. Private 16281. 9th Battalion,, Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action Monday 22 October 1917. Born Ormsby, Norfolk. Enlisted Norwich. Commemorated: ARRAS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Bay 3. There is also an R.R. Allen buried in the churchyard (see below) who is not on the memorial.
ATTEW Sidney John
Private 13820. 8th Battalion Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action Monday 7 May 1917. Age 26. Born Northrepps. Enlisted Norwich. Son of Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Attew, of Thorpe Market, Norwich. Commemorated: ARRAS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Bay 3.
BURDETT Cecil Henry
(Not on this memorial but mentioned on the memorial to the Norfolks, below). Private 23421. 8th Battalion Norfolk Regiment. Died of wounds in France & Flanders on 23rd July 1916. Aged 21. Born on 21st June 1895 in Colby. Enlisted Cromer. Son of Mary Anna Bates, of Colby, Norfolk. Buried: La Neuville British Cemetery, Corbie, Somme, France. Ref. I. D. 34.
COOK Peter Arthur
Private 18522. 2nd Battalion Norfolk Regiment attd. 6th Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers. Died of wounds Monday 17 January 1916. Born on 16th December 1890 in Billingford, Norfolk. Enlisted Norwich. Son of Mrs. Sarah Ann Cook, of Thorpe Market, Norwich. Buried: PLOVDIV CENTRAL CEMETERY, Bulgaria. Ref. H. 4.

There is a marble Memorial commemorating men from the Norfolk Regiment who died in the Great War. Strangely this memorial does not mention all the men from the Norfolk Regiment on the memorial above, but includes one extra man. This Memorial gives the men’s date of birth and further details. (Incorporated in the details above)

Second Lieutenant. 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards. Died of wounds near Givenchy on 22nd December 1914. Aged 23. Son of Edward and Betty Campbell Beauchamp, of 26, Grosvenor Place, Hyde Park Corner, London. Buried: Lillers Communal Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. Ref. I. B. 4.

Driver T/188430. Royal Army Service Corps. Died on 20th June 1941. Aged 21. Son of George and Harriet Sexton; husband of Violet Marion Sexton, of Gunton. Buried: Thorpe Market (St. Margaret) Churchyard.
