ASPLAND	Alfred	Private 235414, 16th (Tyneside Commercials) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. Killed in action 15 December 1917. Aged 34. Husband of Edith Aspland, Hundred Foot Bank, Welney. Formerly 203126 Norfolk Regiment. Buried in Buffs Road Cemetery, St Jean, Belgium.
CORNWELL	Sidney James	Private 22951, ACompany, 8th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action 21 October 1916. Aged 23, at Courcelette-Grandcourt road. Formerly 10th (Reserve) Norfolk Regiment. Son of James Edward & Mary Cornwell, Bells Drove, Welney. No known grave. Commemorated on Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
CROXON	Charles	Private 15734, 9th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment. Died of wounds received at Gallipoli 17 September 1915. Lived Tipsend. Buried in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.
DUFFIELD	George	Private 95126, 13th Battalion, King's (Liverpool Regiment). Killed in action 21 August 1918. Formerly 25680 Norfolk Regiment. Buried in Bucquoy Road Cemetery, Ficheux, France.
GORDON	Ernest	Gunner 160333, 156th Heavy Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Died of wounds 17 October 1918. Aged 27. Son of Daniel & Sarah Gordon, Welney. Husband of Florence Gordon, Lakesend. Buried in Terlincthun British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
GORDON	George	Private G/9856, 6th Battalion, The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). Killed in action 7 October 1916. Aged 32, at Guedecourt. Formerly 9th (Reserve) The Buffs. Son of S A Gordon, White House, Welney. Bancourt British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
HALL	Harry	Private 6308, 1/13th (Kensington Rifles) Battalion, London Regiment. Died of wounds 25 September 1916, at Bouleaux Wood, Combles. Formerly 5970 25th (Reserve) & 7th Middlesex. No known grave. Commemorated on Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
HARLEY	Cecil	Gunner 120453, 76th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Died of wounds 10 July 1917. Buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Poperinghe, Belgium.
JACKSON	Arthur	Private 22956, 7th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action 12 October 1916, at Guedecourt. Formerly 3rd (Reserve) Norfolk Regiment. No known grave. Commemorated on Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

KENT	Job Henry	Gunner 233839, D Battery, 310th Brigade, Royal Artillery. Died 7 December 1918. Son of Harry & Eliza Kent, Welney. Buried in Premont British Cemetery, Aisne, France. Also listed on Manea War Memorial.
KENT	Sidney Llewellyn	Private 12294, 7th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 4 March 1916. Aged 21. Son of Harry & Mary Ann Kent, March Road, Welney. Buried in Vermelles British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
KIMMONS	Percy Reginald	Rifleman 6655, 1/9th (Queen Victoria's Rifles) Battalion, London Regiment. Killed in action 9 October 1916. Aged 34, at Lesboeufs. Formerly 24487 Norfolk Regiment & 2/5th Essex Regiment. Son of Mrs Eliza Rudland, Bedford Bank, Welney. Postman in Welney. No known grave. Commemorated on Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

Husband of Mary E See, New Road, Welney. Grandson of 'Turkey' Smart, the Fen skater. Grave lost, Special Memorial in Chocques Military Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
SISSON	Ernest	Private 25417, 2nd Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 13 November 1916, at Serre. Formerly 10th (Reserve) Suffolk Regiment. Buried in Luke Copse British Cemetery, Serre, France.
SMART	George	Private 8650, 'H' Company, 2nd Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 26 August 1914. Aged 22. Born Manea, enlisted Bury St Edmunds. Son of William and Sabina Smart, of Brampton Villa, Welney, Wisbech. No known grave. Commemorated on La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial, Seine-et-Marne, France. WILFORD	Lionel Russell	Lieutenant, 9th Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment. Died 8 November 1918, of influenza, at 81st General Hospital, Marseilles, France. Aged 26. Formerly 11th (Reserve) South Staffordshire Regiment. Only son of the Rev H H Wilford. Husband of Maude A Wilford, Welney Rectory. Buried in Mazargues Cemetery Extension, Bouches-du-Rhone, France.
WINTERS	Herbert William	Private 23801, 7th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action 12 August 1916. Aged 20, Skyline Trench, near Thiepval. Formerly 10th (Reserve) Norfolk Regiment. Son of Jacob Winters, Wisbech Road, Welney. No known grave. Commemorated on Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

CURTIS	Stanley	Private 5826650, 1st Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Died on Monday, 3 June 1940. Age 24. Son of Henry and Ada Curtis. Buried in ROESELARE COMMUNAL CEMETERY, Roeselare, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Plot 1. Row AA. Grave 4.
FULLER	[John Edward] Kitchener	Lance Sergeant T/64412, Royal Army Service Corps. Died 2 April 1945. Aged 30. Husband of Sarah Alice Fuller. Buried in Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Kleve, Germany.
JOHNSTON	Kenneth	[Transcribed as JOHNSON] Lieutenant EC/5170, 6th Rajputana Rifles. Died 10 March 1944. Son of Reverend Alec Bowman and Agnes May Johnston. [Revd Johnston was Rector of St Marys’ Welney 1940-1957.] Buried in Cassino War Cemetery, Italy.
LAUGHLIN	Horace	Private 5773951, 4th Battalion, Royal Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action during the Japanese invasion of Singapore 11 February 1942. Aged 24. Son of Mary Ann Sarah Laughlin, Welney. No known grave. Commemorated on Singapore Memorial, Kranji War Cemetery, Singapore.
