party in the trenches, just North of LEns, he was instantly killed
by the explosion of an enemy shell which burst nearby, 11th September
1917. Born 5 January 1883 in Wickmere, Norfolk. Christened 1883
in Wickmere, Norfolk. Son of Sarah and Thomas Lambert of Wickmere,
Norfolk. Husband of Alice Lydia (nee Massingham) Lambert, married
1911 in Erpingham, Norfolk. Joined 155th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary
Force 12 June 1916. Attested and passed fit 12 June 1916 in Belleville,
Ontario, Canada, aged 33, height 5 feet 5½ inches, chest
37 inches, dark complexion, dark brown hair, brown eyes, religious
denomination Church of England. Farm help by trade. Also served
in the Norfolk Regimentt in the South African war. Served in the
Norfolk Regimentt for 8 years, attested in Holt, Norfolk, 22 January
1901, aged 18, born Wickmere, passed fit and joined at Norwich 24
January 1901, served as Private 5780, Norfolk Regiment, a Groom
by trade, unmarried, height 5 feet 4¾ inches, chest 32½
inches, weight 115lbs, fresh complexion, light brown eyes, brown
hair, religious denomination Church of England. Transferred to Sction
B, Army Reserve, 21 January 1909. In the 1891 census he was aged
8, a scholar, born Norfolk, son of Tom and Sarah Lambert, resident
Wickmere, Aylsham, Norfolk. In the 1901 census he was an enlisted
soldier, Private, Norfolk Infantry, born Wickmere, billeted at Britannia
Barracks, Thorpe St. Matthew, Norwich. Buried at Noeux-Les-Mines
Communal Cemetery Extension, Pas de Calais, France. Plot I. Row
