BIGLEY Bernard [Sayer]

Private 31045, 1st Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment. Died 7th January 1919. Aged 20. Enlisted Northampton. Son of Mr. F. V. and Mrs. E. Bigley, of 5, Nene View, Irthlingborough, Northants. Buried in CITY OF PARIS CEMETERY, PANTIN, Seine-St-Denis, France. Plot 6. Row 21. Grave 9. See also Irthlingborough War Memorial.

BUTLER Samuel

Private G/10280, 10th Battalion, Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment). Killed in action 15th September 1916. Aged 18. Born and resident Irthlingborough, enlisted Wellingborough. Son of Mrs Butler, of 36, Spinney Lane, Irthlingborough. Formerly 22553, Northamptonshire Regiment. No known grave. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 5 D and 6 D. DENTON Ralph

Corporal 14522, "A" Company, 6th Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment. Killed in action 5th April 1918. Aged 25. Born Irthlingborough, enlisted Northampton. Son of Frederick and Lizzie Denton, of 57, Scarborough St., Irthlingborough. No known grave. Commemorated on POZIERES MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Panel 54 to 56. See also Irthlingborough War Memorial.

FAVELL Ernest

Private 49336, 36th Field Ambulance, Royal Army medical Corps. Killed in action 29th April 1917. Born and enlisted Northampton. Also St. John Ambulance trained. Formerly 14520, Northamptonshire Regiment. Buried in FEUCHY BRITISH CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France. Plot I. Row B. Grave 18. See also Irthlingborough War Memorial.

HADDON George [Walter]

[Scouts list him as 2nd Battalion] Private 14571, 1st Battalion, Northamptonshire. Killed in action 23rd July 1916. Aged 22. Born Kettering, enlisted Northampton. Son of Mr W. J. and Mrs. E. J. Haddon, of 7, College St., Irthlingborough. No known grave. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 11 A and 11 D. See also Irthlingborough War Memorial.

MEEKINS Walter

Private 16338, 2nd Battalion, NOrthamptonshire Regiment. Died of wounds 9th May 1915. Born Irthlingborough, enlisted Rushden. Buried in PONT-DU-HEM MILITARY CEMETERY, LA GORGUE, Nord, France. Plot V. Row B. Grave 17. See also Irthlingborough War Memorial.

MIDDLETON Arthur

Private 25897, Royal Army medical Corps. Discharged 28 March 1916 no longer physically fit for more service home or abroad. Death of an Arthur Middleton recorded in Wellingborough District in quarter Jan/Feb/March 1917. Aged 38. Discharged as permanently unfit. Served 1 year 235 days - no wounds. No medals awarded. Character good. Still able to work and earn full living in the labour marketDisability - diabetes from 1913 - not due to military service suffering before joining up but it was not picked up. Losing weight rapidly - only 7 stone 5 pounds - he was 9 stone 11 pounds 12 months previously. Enlisted 8th August 1914 at Devonport, Plymouth, aged 36 years. Shoemaker. No children. Eyes dark brown. - hair dark brown- fresh complexion - 5' 6 and half inches. Returned to 6 Commercial Street, Higham Ferrers. Born 2nd March 1878 at H. Ferrers. Christened at Wesleyan on 11th April 1878. On 1901 Census this Arthur was a shoemaker aged 23 years. He married Catherine Mary Bettles on 26th December 1907 at H. Ferrers Wesleyan. On 1911 Census the couple lived at 6 Commercial St. Son of Alfred and Ellen Middleton (nee Parker) of Thrift St. Arthur's siblings were Walter, Gracie and Mary. He was an Assistant Scout Leader. THOMPSON Arthur

Private 49339, 36th Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps. Died in United Kingdom 16th May 1918. Aged 24. Born Irthlingborough, enlisted Northampton. Son of William and Emma Thompson, of Irthlingborough. Also St. John Ambulance trained. Buried in IRTHLINGBOROUGH CEMETERY, Northamptonshire. Grave 269. See also Irthlingborough War Memorial.

TYLER Ralph

Lance Corporal 18146. 1st Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment. Killed in action 20th August 1916. Aged 22. Born Irthlingborough, enlisted Rushden. Son of Arthur and Ellen Emma Tyler, of 6, Queen St., Irthlingborough. No known grave. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 11 A and 11 D. WARREN Reginald [Clifford]

Corporal (Mechanic) 7988, 34th Squadron, Royal Air Force. Died 10th July 1918. Aged 23. Son of Clifford and Kate Warren, of 87, College St., Irthlingborough. Buried in HAGLE DUMP CEMETERY, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Plot I. Row J. Grave 5. See also Irthlingborough War Memorial.

WHITE Frank

Private 3864, 1st/4th Battalion (Territorials), Northamptonshire Regiment. Killed in action at Gallipoli 21st September 1915. Enlisted Northampton. Buried in 7th FIELD AMBULANCE CEMETERY, Turkey. Plot IV. Row E. Grave 9. See also Irthlingborough War Memorial.

WHITE [William] Walter

Able Seaman R/1009, Drake Battalion, Royal Naval Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. Killed in action 14th May 1918. Born 31st March 1899 in Irthlingborough. A Shoe Hand. Son of William White, 10 Scarborough St., Irthlingborough. Enteered the Naval Service 3rd April 1917, drafted with BEF 2nd April 1918, joined Drake Battalion 8th April 1918 until his death. Buried in MARTINSART BRITISH CEMETERY, Somme, France. Plot I. Row G. Grave 42. See also Irthlingborough War Memorial.
