The Benson war memorial sits at the crossroads, on the B4009 in Benson, Oxfordshire. It takes the form of a large stone wheel cross with the cross surmounting a tapering, stone, pedestal which bears the names and inscription in black lettering with a two-stepped stone base; the cross is in a Celtic-style carvings on the head of the cross and shaft. There are 39 names llisted for World War 1 and 9 for World War 2.

Gunner 40822, Royal Field Artillery attached Royal Garrison Artillery. Killed in action in North Russia 11 August 1919. Aged 23. Enlisted Coventry, born and resident Benson. Son of John and Esther Bridcutt of Roke Benson Half-Brother to John Henry Bridcutt (see above) and Charles Amos Bridcutt (see below) Full-Brothers Albert George Bridcutt served as Gunner 80th Company Royal Garrison Artillery and Gunner Francis Edward Birdcutt (55456) 471 Siege Bty Royal Garrison Artillery; both survived the war. Acting Serjeant 7714, 1st Battalion, Princess Charlotte of Wales's (Royal Berkshire Regiment). Killed in action 28 September 1918. Born and resident Wallingford, enlisted Reading. Son of Mr & Mrs C Luker of Crowmarsh Wallingford Berks; the 1911 Census has Alfred Luker living with his brothers (George and James) at Clacks Cottages Ewelme Benson working as General Labourers on a farm. LUKER James
Private 15179, 71st Battalion, Machine Gun Corps (Infantry). Killed in action 15 September 1916. Son of Mr & Mrs C Luker of Crowmarsh, Wallingford, Berks; the 1911 Census has James Luker living with his brothers (George and Alfred) at Clacks Cottages, Ewelme, Benson, working as General Labourers on a farm. Son of Frederick Walter Whichello, of Benson, Wallingford, Berks.; husband of Beatrice Emily Roberts (formerly Whichello, nee Bartholomew), of 15, Meon Rd., Milton, Portsmouth. Birth registered in the January to March Quarter 1882 in Wallingford Registrration District. Pawnbroker's Assistant before he enlisted. Enrolled Royal Navy 27 January 1899 in London, re-engaged 17 December 1910 at which time his wife was living at 212 Eastfield Road, Eastney, Portsmouth. Height 5 feet 10 inches, complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey. Religious denomination Church of England. He married in the April to June Quarter 1910 in the Strood Reistration District, Kent. In the 1901 census he was aged 20, born Wallingford, aged 20, Gunner R.M.A. a member of Crew. In the 1911 census he is listed as being aged 29, a Sergeant in the Royal Marine Artillery, born Benson, resident with his wife Beaterice Emily and their bay son at 212 Eastfield Road Eastney, Portsmouth.
