Private memorial to Robinson Lieut RA. Memorial reads: ‘In proud and loving memory of Cyril Evans Robinson Lieut RA, killed at Coulommiers, 24 July 1918, age 19 years. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

John Kenneth

Private memorial to Glasscondine, Private, 4 Batt. The Welch Regiment. Died of wounds received in action at Alpen, Germany, 7 March 1945 age 19. Buried in the Reichwald Forest British Cemetery, Germany. Panels were inserted by family & friends.

HARRISON

Herbert Augustine Christopher

Private memorial to Harrison, Lieut 9th Reg. reads: To the glory of God and to the beloved memory of Herbert Augustine Christopher Harrison third son of the Rev’d Christopher Harrison Lieut and Adj. 9th Reg. Born 21 March 1856 at Peldon Rectory, Essex. Killed in action with the Boer at Bronkhorst Spruit, Transvaal, South Africa, Dec. 20th 1880. This brass is erected by his three brothers and his sister as a record of their affection. ‘He fought a good fight, he kept the faith’

Editor’s Note:

Bronkhorst Spruit was the first major action of the First Transvaal, or Boer, War. The 94th Regiment of Foot under Colonel Anstruther was ambushed by a Boer force under Commandant Frans Joubert.
