The Sandwick war memoriasl are to be found at the local parish kirk, Sandwick. The World War 1 memorial is a rough hewn obelisk with the inscription and names carved into the front face. There are nineteen names for World War 1. The World War 2 memorial is in the form of a plaque set into the kirkyard wall. There are evelen names for World War 2.

Corporal, S A H (South African Highlanders?) on memorial. Possibly Robert Finlay. Corporal 340. 4th Regiment, South African Infantry. Died 12th October 1916, aged 34 years. Son of (the late) Frederick and Mary Finlay of 145 High Street, Kinross, Scotland. Commemorated Thiepval Memorial. Pier and Face 4C.
HALCROW Andrew
Private 202796. 4th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders. Killed in action 9th April 1917. Born Sandwick and enlisted Lerwick, Shetland Islands. Commemorated Arras Memorial. Bay 8 and 9.
HENDERSON John Robert Smith
Gunner 181736. 32nd Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Died of wounds 26th May 1918, aged 28 years. Son of (the late) Gilbert and Barbara Smith Henderson. Born Sandwick, enlisted Lerwick and resident Sandwick, Shetland Islands. Commemorated Caestre Military Cemetery. I.B.30.

Royal Naval Reserve on memorial. Possibly George Fraser Jamieson. Leading Seaman 211l, Royal Naval Reserve (Shetland Section). SS ‘Mordenwood’. Died 19th May 1917, aged 41 years. Son of James and Bessie Jamieson of East Yell, Shetland Islands. Husband of (the late) Barbara E Jamieson. Commemorated Portsmouth Naval Memorial. 27.

Seaman 504/L, Royal Naval reserve. HMS ‘Pembroke’. Died 17th August 1916, aged 21 years. Son of James and (the late) Isabella Jamieson of Channerwick, Sandwick, Shetland Islands. Commemorated Sandwick Parish Churchyard. 64.
