The SS 
            Paris was built by W. Denny & Bros., Dumarton in 1913 for the 
            London, Brighton and South Coast Railway Company. She was 1,7774 gross 
            tos, speed 25 knots, length 31 feet, breadth 35½ feet and carried 
            968 passengers. She was on the Newhaven to Dieppe route. She held 
            the record for the fastest crossing (a little over 2 hours currently 
            nearly 4) and was a minelayer during World War 1 . During World War 
            2 she was used as a hospital ship during the Dunkirk evacuation and 
            was sunk on 2nd June 1940 following a bombing attack during the evacuation.
