The memorial stands just inside the west gate of St Michael and All Angels church, St Michael's Hill, Milverton. Thye memorial has a three-stepped, octagonal base upon which stands a square plinth with tapering shaft leading to a cross. There are 30 names for World War 1 and 10 for World War 2. It was unveiled on 13th February 1921 by Brigadier General H C Firth and dedicated by the Bishop Suffragan of Taunton. The builders were Messrs. Harry Hems & Sons. In 1990 the memorial was cleaned and the lettering re-blackened.

BRICE	Frederick aka Fred	Private 14458, 8th Battalion, Prince Albert's (Somerset Light Infantry). Killed in action 1 July 1916. Aged 31. Born Ashbrittle, Wellington, Somerset, enlisted Taunton, resident Wellington. Brother of Mrs. Mary Ann Pike, of Charles Cottage, Ottisford, Wellington, Somerset. In the 1911 census he was a boarder, aged 26, a Farm Labourer, born Ashbriitle, Somerset, resident Langford Budville, Wellington, Somerset. No known grave. BULL	Harry	Private, Hereford Regiment. In the 1911 census Harry Bull was a boarder, aged 23, born Milverton, Somerset, a Domestic Journeyman gardener, resident The Gardens, Hickleton Hall, Doncaster. In the 1901 census he was aged 13, son of Elizabeth Bull, born and resident Milverton. In the 1891 census he was aged 3, son of William and Elizabeth Bull, born and resident Milverton. His birth was registered in the Wellington Registration District, Somerset in the October to December Quarter 1887. No Harry Bull found in the Herefordshire Regiment, there is a Tom BULL, Private 2078, 1st/1st Battalion, Herefordshire Regiment. Killed in action at Gallipoli 9 August 1915. Aged 27. Born and resident Milverton, enlisted Hereford. Son of Elizabeth Ann Bull, of The College, Milverton, Taunton. No known grave. Commemorated on HELLES MEMORIAL, Turkey (including Gallipoli). BURSTON	Frank	Private A40211, 5th Battalion, Canadian Infantry. Died 24 April 1916. Aged 35. Born 13 October 1880 in Milverton, Somerset. Son of Robert and Hannah Burston, of Milverton, Somerset. Painter by trade. Unmarried at enlistment. Enlisted 21 December 1914 at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, aged 34 years 6 months, height 5 feet 4 inches, girth 37½ inches, complexion dark, eyes brown, hair black, rellgious demonination Church of England. In the 1891 census he was aged 10, a scholar, son of Robert and Emma Burston, born Somerset, residnet Borth Street, Milverton. No known grave. In the 1911 census he was the son of Robert and Eliza Cornish, aged 21, a Butcher's Assistant, born Milverton and resident Little Bickley, Somerset. CRIDLAND	Ernest J	Private 2039, 2nd/5th Battalion, Prince Albert's (Somerset Light Infantry). Died in the Indian Theatre of War 17 August 1915. Aged 18. Born and enlisted Milverton. HAYES	Samuel [James]	[Listed as Private on memorial] Gunner RMA/6821, Royal Marine Artillery. Died 6 July 1919. Aged 38. Son of James and Harriet Hayes; husband of Annie Hayes, of Houndsmoor, Milverton. Buried by the North door in St. MICHAEL CHURCHAYRD, MILVERTON, Somerset.
HODGE	William	Private 3/8539, 1st Battalion, Dorsetshire Regiment. Killed in action 5 May 1915. Aged 26. Born and resident Wiveliscombe, enlisted Cardiff, Glamorgan. MOORE	Charles [Henry]	Corporal 602065, 54th Battalion, Canadian Infantry. Died 17 January 1919. Aged 35. Born 23 November 1883 in Exeter. Son of S. M. Moore; husband of N. B. Moore, of 2, West St., Bampton. Born at Exeter. In the 1901 census Charles H Moore was the grandson of Esther Andrews, aged 17, a House Painter, born Exeter, Devon, resident Sand Street, Milverton. When he enlisted he was a Painer by trade, married, husband of Mrs E H Moore, of 1 Sivecl (?) Place, Heavitree, Exeter. He enlisted 13 January 1915, and was passed fit 25 January, at galt, Ontario, Canada, aged 31, height 5 feet 10 inches, girth 37 inches. complexion fair, eyes blue, hair dark brown, religious denomination Church of England. POOLE	Baden Victor	Private, Devonshire Regiment. Birth registered in the April to June Quarter 1900 in the Wellington Registration District. in In the 1901 census he was less than one year old. Son of George and Mary Poole, born and resident Milverton. Civil death registered in the Wellington Registration District March 1919, aged 18.

Born 26 February 1880 in Milverton. In the 1911 census he was aged 30, married to Alice Shattock, with two children, ba Marine in the Royal Marine Light Infantry, born Milverton, resident 17 Hotham Place, Stoke, Devonport, Devon; eventually they moved to 47 Cremyll St, Stonehouse, Devon. In 1914 he was with RNAS Armoured Car Section ("Motor Bandits") and then with the Royal Marine Briagde from 30 September 1914 until his death. In the 1891 census he is listed as James Shaddock alias Henry James Shattock, grandson of Sarah Shaddock (sic), aged 10. born and resident Milverton. No known grave. Born at Middle Farm, Preston Bowyer, Milverton, Somerset, 17 March 1888. Son of William Samuel and Harriet Bennett; husband of Gertrude May Bennett, of 35, Springcroft Avenue, East Finchley, London. The family lived at Middle Farm, Preston Bowyer for many years, and his maternal grandparents Robert and Harriet Davis lived at Preston Farm until they died.
