COMBUST WAR MEMORIAL
World War 1 & 2 - Roll
of Honour with detailed information
Compiled and copyright © Andrew Tucker 2019
In
the run-up to the centenary of the start of World War 1, in 2014, a
new memorial was unveiled in Bradfield Combust commemorating those who
died in World War 1 and World War 2 from the village. It takes the form
of an engraved tablet atop a brick plinth with a concrete base. There
are also plaques that were in All Saints church but now reside in Bradfield
Combust Methodist Church, in Chapel Road, commemorating those who fell
in both wars. The World War 1 memorial within the church was dedicated
by Rev E.W. Wilmott (Rector of Bradfield Combust) and unveiled by Edgar
Bradley (representing the Army) and William Savoy (representing the
Navy Navy having himself served in both World Wars and father of the
2 RAF Savoy brothers lost in WW2) 19 November 1922. The church memorial
only lists 4 names H Sparke is not listed.
