HOMERSFIELD WAR MEMORIAL

World War 1 - Detailed Information
Compiled and Copyright © Mick Tilley 2007

A brass plaque on the lectern of St Mary's Church lists the men of the village who died in the First World War. In addition, a very poorly preserved "plaque" once provided a hand-written list of the men of Homersfield and the adjoining village of St Cross who fought in the First World War - these are given in the second and third parts of the table below (the "†" character is as given on the list and is taken to mean "deceased") - this Roll of Honour has since been recreated and now hangs in a glass frame(See photograph 2nd). It looks as though the original list was hurriedly written in about 1920 and then never replaced! (See photograph 1st). There are no entries for World War 2. The entries here have been sorted into alphabetical order.
