Worlingworth Heroes. An impressive ceremony took place last Sunday (26th) on the occasion of the unveiling of the cross erected to the memory of the twenty men of Worlingworth who gave their lives in the Great War. The inhabitants gathered together at the muffled peal, and a service of preparation was held in the crowded church; the short and appropriate address being summed up in the words, “Promise to the Lord thy God, and keep it.” A solemn procession then formed and proceeded to the gates of the churchyard, where the cross has been erected. Here the assembly was briefly addressed by Lieut.-Col. The Lord Henniker, who reminded the hearers of the nature of the sacrifices made by the men and how great a responsibility it entailed on all who were thus enabled to live and work for God and England.

After the unveiling the stone was dedicated to the glory of God and the memory of the fallen, and the school children laid their flowers as a tribute. The stone is executed in blue pennant, and is in keeping with the fine old church.
