WRENTHAM
WAR MEMORIAL
World
War - Roll of Honour with detailed information
Compiled and copyright © Martin Edwards 2012
The
Wrentham war memorial is a Celtic style cross on a long tapering shaft
with a rough hewn, stone base with a plaque affixed to the back and
front with the inscriptions and names listed in black lettering which
are badly worn now; it stands in St Nicholas churchyard, Wrentham. There
are twenty nine names listed for World War 1 and eleven for World War
2. The first 26 names for World War 1 are on the the main plaque and
the final three names are above the World War 2 names on the second
plaque. The World War 1 names are split between Army and Navy and do
not have an obvious sequence, these have been sorted into Alphabetical
order here for ease of research and reading.
There
is also a two in the USA called Wrentham who have a memorial
project on Facebook.
