Mentioned in Despatches (MiD). In the 1901 census he was aged 8, born Hull, Yorkshire, son of Ernest W and Margaret H Ingleby, resident The Shardelocs, Newgate Street, Cottingham Without, Sculcoates, Yorkshire & Yorkshire (East Riding). In the 1911 census he was aged 18, born Hull, Yorkshire, an Oil Marchant's Clerk, son of Ernest Ward and Margaret hannah Ingleby, resident Newgate Street, Cottingham, Yorkshire & Yorkshire (East Riding). Buried in VENDRESSE BRITISH CEMETERY, Aisne, France. Plot I. Row A. Grave 20.

Captain NORMAN WARD INGLEBY

Captain Norman Ward Ingleby, the East Yorkshire Regiment (T.F ), younger son of Mr and Mrs Ernest W. Ingleby, of Melton Hill, Brongh, East Yorkshire, who was officially reported missing on May 27th, 1918, is now reported by the Red Cross to have been killed in action on that date. He was 25 years of age, and was educated at the Old College, Windermere, and at Charterhouse. He was severely wounded in April, 1917. and was mentioned in despatches in January, 1918. He married Kathleen, younger daughter of Colonel G. H. Clarke, of Kirkella, near Hull, in July last year.
