The memorial is a white stone cross, with a carved figure of Jesus facing the rising sun from the east, topped with a tiny pitched roof running from the apex of the cross to the ends of the cross bars. The Cross is set into a granite plinth on the front of which the fallen from World War I are incised. On the sides of the plinth, on either side of the Names are single-line inscriptions, shown below the list of names below. This plinth is on top of a set of white stone steps in 3 tiers. Behind the memorial is a pair of pillars and a low wall made of rough local stone supporting a white tablet in which are inscribed the fallen from World War II. The tops of the pillars are capped with white stone and a curved capstone over the tablet is engraved with the inscription below. The base on the monument is a pavement of red stone. The Memorial is on the eastern wall of All Saints’ churchyard next to the Tilford Road.

Cemetery: All Saints' churchyard, Tilford, SE corner.

Note: Although the official details are that his parachute failed to open there is an eyewitness account of the combat (Alf Rogers, who was a young boy with his father, and who is now in Australia) who confirms that his parachute did open, but the Bf109 returned twice to fire on Peter Crofts whilst descending in his harness. Alf states that this was the only time he saw this happen (he obviously was an eyewitness to many of the dogfights in the area, living in Punnets Town in East Sussex). He is quite sure of what he saw, but does not know what happened to the pilot as he disappeared below the tree line. He did visit the crashed Hurricane, which buried itself, nose first in the ground, the wings having sheared off just before it crashed. There is also a monument to Peter Crofts by the roadside in Dallington, near where he landed.
