There is a small framed list, locally illustrated, including the names of 8 local men who were lost. This is to be found on the South Wall of the Parish Church of St.Giles. The memorial includes men from the hamlet of Westfield.

Private G/1269 2nd Battalion, The Royal Sussex Regiment. 1st Division. Killed in action at the Battle of Loos 25th September 1915. Aged 21. Son of Mr. Bolt & Mrs. Harriett Bolt of Beacon House, Westfield. Born in Worthing and enlisted in Littlehampton. Commemorated on The Loos Memorial MR. 19

Private L/7992, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Sussex Regiment. 1st Division. Killed in action at Richebourg L`Avoue 9th May 1915. Aged 31. Son of John & Fanny Cheesman of Lower Nash, Nutbourne near Pulborough. Regular Soldier born in Coldwaltham and enlisted in Chichester. Commemorated on The Le Touret Memorial MR.22.

Leading Cooks Mate M/2026, H.M.S. “Good Hope”, Royal Navy. Lost with the Armoured Cruiser during the Battle of Coronel Islands off Chile, 1st November 1914. Aged 23. Son of William & Ellen Cheeseman of Watersfield. Commemorated on The Portsmouth Naval Memorial. MR. 3.

Private L/10385, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Sussex Regiment. 1st Division. Killed in action near Givenchy 16th February 1915. Aged 19. Son of Frank & Gertrude Cox of Watersfield. Born in Coldwaltham and enlisted in Chichester. Regular. Commemorated on The Le Touret Memorial MR.22

Gunner RMA/13456/PO H.M.S. “Invincible”, Royal Marine Artillery. Grand Fleet. Lost with the Battlecruiser at the Battle of Jutland 31st May 1916. Commemorated on The Portsmouth Naval Memorial MR.3.

Lance Corporal L/8472, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Sussex Regiment. 1st Division. Killed in action on the Somme 30th June 1916. Aged 32. Son of George & Charity Stemp of Jordans Cottage, Nutbourne. Born in Redhill, Surrey and enlisted in Arundel. Regular Soldier. Included on West Chiltington Parish Church War Memorial. Commemorated on The Arras Memorial MR.20

Private TF/2844, 1/4th Battalion, The Royal Sussex Regiment. 53rd Division. Killed in action at Suvla Bay 5th September 1915. Aged 19. Son of Mr & Mrs Wedge of Coldwaltham. Born in Coldwaltham and enlisted in Petworth. Buried in Azmak Cemetery, Suvla, Gallipoli, Turkey.
