This remote little church lies just South of Coldwaltham and is devoid of any memorials apart from a brass plate bearing the names of three men from the 1914-18 War.

Charles

Lance Corporal G/925, 9th Battalion, The Royal Sussex Regiment. 24th Division. Killed in action during the Battle of Arras 13th April 1917. Aged 21. Son of Charles & Emily Searle of Dora Cottages, Greatham near Storrington. Brother of John Searle. Born in Fernhurst and enlisted in Horsham. Buried in Lievin Communal Cemetery Extension. F. 557

DEAN

George

Private L/10409, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Sussex Regiment. 1st Division. Killed in action near Festubert 16th March 1915. Born in Thakeham and enlisted in Horsham. Included on Kirdford Parish War Memorial. Buried in Browns Road Military Cemetery F. 260

SEARLE

John James

Private 6125, 2/6th Battalion, The Royal Warwickshire Regiment. 61st Division. Killed in action 19th July 1916. Aged 18. Son of Charles & Emily Searle of Dora Cottages, Greatham, near Storrington. Brother of Charles Searle. Born in Greatham and enlisted in Horsham Formerly with the Royal Sussex Regiment. Commemorated on The Loos Memorial MR. 19
