his DFC as: This officer has completed a large number of sorties,
many in adverse weather in the execution of many low-level photographic
reconnaissances, Flt Lt Holbech has invariably displayed the highest
qualities of skill and courage in the face of opposing fire. On
one occasion, Flt Lt Holbech was detailed to reconnoitre the causeway
leading to the island of South Beveland (Holland), prior to the
assault by our ground forces. Owing to low cloud, he had to fly
at low level down the causeway in the face of continuous anti-aircraft
fire. Despite this, Flt Lt Holbech secured excellent photographs
which proved of immense value. His work was of the highest standard.
