The
memorial is in Manor Lane on the village green at the junction with
Bandbury Road, Kineton. It takes the form of a three stepped base surmounted
by a plinth and a column, with a royal coat of arms carved on it, with
a ball on top with a cross affixed to the summit; the inscription is
to be found on the sides of the plinth. It was unveiled 10 July 1921.
There are 38 name slisted for World War 1 and 10 names for World War
2.

his name is inscribed on Ypres (Menin Gate) memorial, Belgium. |

Kineton. The 62nd Battalion was formed on 9th March 1918 and was attached

Horace was killed on 3rd December 1918 and is buried Le Cateau Communal

in action 20th March 1918, on 21st March 1918 the Division took
part in the Battle of St Quentin. He is buried at St. Souplet British

George was the son of George and Mary Baldwin, of Kennels, Kineton.
Born 26 August 1894 in Peterborough, Northamptonshire. He was drowned
on 31st January 1918, age 27, when HMS submarine K4 collided with
HMS K6 and HMS K7 during fleet exercises in the North Sea. K4 was
lost with all hands. Enlisted as a school boy 26 August 1912 for
12 years. Height 5 feet 5 inches, chest 36½ inches, light
brown hair, grey eyes, fresh complexion. Name inscribed on Plymouth
Naval Memorial. |

April. Jack was killed in action on 25th April 1917, his name is

Liverpool. Enlisted Liverpool, residence Liverpool. In the 1911
census he was aged 25, a General Clerk, born St Peters Rock Ferry,
Cheshire, resident with his widowed mother, Lavina, who was Curator
of the Royal Instituion, in Royal Institution, Colquitt Street,
Liverpool. The battalion was part of the 3rd Division. Charles died
of wounds on 7th July 1915, age 29. He is buried Wimereux Communal
Cemetery, France. |

the Distinguished Conduct medal (D.C.M.). Son of Joseph and Mary

Stratford. The battalion was part of 2nd Division which landed in
Boulogne in November 1915. The Division fought on the Somme from
1st July 1916 until 13th November 1916. Percy was killed in action
on 12th September 1916, age 34. He is buried at Hebuterne Communal
Cemetery, France.

Lieutenant 3rd October 1914. Raymond served in the South Africa
campaign. The battalion was part of the 28th Division which landed
in Salonika in October 1915. The Division fought on the Doiran front.
Raymond was killed in action 13th September 1916, age 34. He is
buried at Karasouli Military Cemetery, Greece. |

took part in the final advances in Flanders between 28th September
and 11th November 1918. George died of wounds on 24th October 1918,
age 22. He is buried at Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, France.

known on the western front known as ‘Operation Michael‘. Kelvnge
was killed in action on 31st May 1918, age 24. He is buried at Chambrecy
British Cemetery, France. |

war it developed into a major base and hospital centre (CWWGC). |
