Private 5777484. D Company, 5th Bn., Royal Norfolk Regiment. Died during the Japanese invasion of Singapore Saturday 14 February 1942. Age 22. Lived at 74 Wenlock Street, Luton. Herbert John Land was born 6 January 1920, the son of John Land of Luton (known as Jack) and Annie Land (nee McNeil), originally from Falkirk, Scotland. He was originally buried at the Pagoda Lawn on Braddel Road in Singapore. His remains were exhumed later and he was re-interred by the CWGC at Kranji. Buried in KRANJI WAR CEMETERY, Singapore.
