The
memorial is in the form of a wall-mounted plaque inside Lanhydrock St
Hydroc Parish Church, Bodmin, Cornwall that is within the National Trust
estate of Lanhydrock. It is a white marble tablet with incised painted
lettering in Roman caps encased by a red and white mottled marble, nowy-headed,
surround, that is set on a white backboard with two plain brackets at
base; a laurel wreath sits in relief within nowy-headed top of the frame.
There are eleven names listed for World War 1 only.

commanding no. 2 Company, 1st Battalion, Coldstream Guards. Died
of wounds 30 September 1915. Aged 35. Baptised 19 June 1880 in Lanhydrock,
Cornwall (twin son). Eldest son of Thomas Charles, 6th Viscount
Clifden, and Mary, Viscountess Clifden, of Lanhydrock, Bodmin, Cornwall.
Educated at Eton (left Eton College in 1899) and matriculated 1899,
Christ Church, Oxford. Member of Parliament (M.P.) for St. Austell
and Mid-Cornwall since 1908. Mentioned in Despatches. Buried in
LAPUGNOY MILITARY CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France. Plot I. Row D.

Emily Beare (nee Rusk), of Treffry Cottage, Lanhydrock, Bodmin,
Cornwall, married 1913 in Bodmin, Cornwall. Formerly 9362, Duke
of Cornwall's Light Infantry. In the 1901 census he was aged 9,
born Egloshayle, Cornwall, resident with his parents at Lemail Mills,
Egloshayle, Bodmin, Cornwall. In the 1911 census he was aged 19,
born Wadebridge, Cornwall, unmarried, a Private, 1st Battalion,
Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, billeted at Gravesend, Kent.
No known grave. Commemorated on LOOS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France.

a Domestic groom, resident Colgear Stables Lanhydrock Bodmin, Lanhydrock,

Son of William Henry and Mary Coad, of Trebyan, Lanhydrock, Bodmin;
husband of Olive Coad, of 22, Queen St., Lostwithiel, Cornwall,
married 1909 in the East Stonehouse Registration District, Devon.
Formerly Trooper, Royal Devon Yeomanry. In the 1901 census he was
aged 10, born Lanlivery, Cornwall, resident with his parents at
Trebyan, Lanhydrock, Bodmin, Cornwall. In the 1911 census he was
aged 21, born Lanlivery, an Assistant Butcher, resident with his
wife Olive and mother-in-law, Ada Stevens, at 12 North Street, Lostwithiel,

Cornwall. In the 1891 census he was new born, born Essex, resident
with his parents, Thomas E and Emily E Fewell, in Baddow Road, Chelmsford,
Essex. In the 1901 census he was aged 10, born Chelmsford, Essex,
resident with his parents at 8, Wolseley Road, Moulsham, Chelmsford,

Infantry. Killed in action by enemy shell fire during an advance
made by his battalion near Courcelette 9 October 1916. Aged 25.
Born 21 October 1892 in Lanhydrock. Son of James Hawken, of The
Gardens, Lanhydrock, Bodmin, Cornwall, and the late Jane Hawken.
Gardener by trade. Attested 22 June 1915 in London, Ontario, Canada,
aged 22 years 8 months, unmarried, height 5 feet 6 inches, 145 lbs,
chest 35 inches, dark complexion, blue eyes, black hair, religious
denomination Methodist. Embarked Canada 17 March 1916, arrived England
25 March 1916. In the 1901 census he was aged 9, born Lanhydrock,
Cornwall, resident with his parents, James and Jane Hawken, at Garden
House, Lanhydrock, Bodmin, Cornwall. Sailed to Quebec, Canada, from
Plymouth, 19 April 1912 aboard the Sicilian, of the Allan Line,
Plymouth. No known grave. Commemorated on VIMY MEMORIAL, Pas de

Garage Motor Car Driver, resident with his mother, Kate Johns, at
