memorial stands near the village of Lezant, just off the roadside. A
cross of white bells have also been planted in front of it. Those from
the First World War are listed in the year which they died rather than
alphabetical. The memorial also states in which force they served.

as HMS Nymph on memorial and CWGC] Leading Seaman 186532 (Dev),
HMS Nymphe, Royal Navy. Died from disease 31st October 1915. Born
21st April 1878 in Callington, Cornwall. Husband of Beatrice Hodge
(nee Stacey), of 21, Stoke Terrace, Stoke, Devonport, Devon, married
1907 in Kings Norton Registration District, Worcestershire. In
the 1881 census he was aged 2, born Lezant, Cornwall, son of John
and Margy G Hodge, resident Beals Mill, Lezant, Launceston, Cornwall.
In the 1901 census he was a visitor, aged 21, born Lezant, Cornwall,
Seaman Royal Navy, visiting Phyllis Huggins and family at 28,
Wolsdon Street, Plymouth, Devon. Buried in PLYMOUTH (FORD PARK)
CEMETERY, Devon. General Section D. Row 17. Grave 6.
Note:
HMS Nymphe was launched 31 January 1911 and complete May 1911,
built by Hawthorn Leslie & Company. In mid-1913, she was with
the Second Destroyer Flotilla. A Destroyer of the Acorn class.
Reduced to C. & M. Party at Portsmouth on 17 October, 1919.
Sold May 1921.
