MORVAL WAR MEMORIAL

The memorial is located on the edge of the Morval estate (opposite one of the entrance gates), Morval. The memorial is in the form of a stone wheel cross with Celtic-style relief on head of cross; the Cross surmounts a tapering stone plinth which bears the inscription and names, the memorial stands on stone base.

Sapper 261795, 33rd Railway Operating Company, Royal Engineers. Died 21st May 1918. Aged 41. Son of the late Henry and Lucy Badcock, of Morval, Cornwall. Buried in MIKRA BRITISH CEMETERY, KALAMARIA, Greece. Grave 257.

Sergeant 4212, Army Veterinary Corps attached "B" Battery, 285th Brigade, Royal Fiedl Artillery. Died 14th May 1917. Aged 32. Son of the late Samuel Doney, of Stoke, Devonport; husband of Gertrude Ellen Doney, of "The Cuddy," East Looe, Cornwall. Buried in ANZAC CEMETERY, SAILLY-SUR-LA-LYS, Pas de Calais, France. Plot II. Row F. Grave 5.
