The
Crowan memorial takes the form of an illuminated, wooden framed Roll
of Honour that hangs within the parish church of St Sidinius (Siduinus,
or Sithuinus). Listed are 91 names of those who served and returned
and 10 names that gave their lives (these are listed here). The pulpit
is ornately carved and serves as a memorial to the 10 who died.

into the Essex Regiment (No 252345) then transferred into the Royal
Fusiliers (No 225364) which later became the 1st Battalion the London
Regiment also listed as formerly 24471, Duke of Cornwall's Light
Infantry. Son of William and Catherine Moore, of Nancegollan, Helston.

Cornwall [probably Carnmeal Farm, Breage, Carnmeal, Helston, Cornwall].

Infantry Regiment. Died of pneumonia on 26th September 1915. Aged
30. According to his records he was serving in 'B' Squadron of the
Natal Light Horse. Born in 1885 to J T and Isobel Stephens of Triangle,
Helston. Enlisted in South Africa. Under "Next-of-Kin"
he listed his sister, Mrs Angove, who was living in Germiston, South
Africa. After 1919 the War Office awarded his medal (the 1914-15
Star) to his father. Buried in POTCHEFSTROOM MILITARY CEMETERY,
South Africa. Grave C.E. 363. |
